Welcome to Akiiki Moto Tours. By booking a tour or renting a motorcycle from us, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully.
1. Rider Requirements
All riders must meet the following criteria at the commencement of the tour:
- License: A valid motorcycle license for the category of bike being used. If your license is not in English, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is mandatory.
- Age: Minimum age of 25 years (unless otherwise agreed in writing).
- Experience: Riders must have sufficient experience for the chosen route. We reserve the right to restrict riding if a rider’s skill level poses a safety risk.
2. Insurance and Excess
Our motorcycles are insured for third-party and accidental damage. However:
- Insurance Excess: In the event of an accident or damage, the rider is liable for an insurance excess (security deposit) of R15,000.
- Personal Travel Insurance: It is a mandatory requirement that all clients have comprehensive travel insurance that specifically covers “motorcycle touring” and “emergency medical evacuation.”
3. Motorcycle Usage
- Authorized Use: Only the designated rider may operate the motorcycle.
- Traffic Laws: Riders must obey all South African road laws. Any traffic fines incurred during the tour are the sole responsibility of the rider.
- Off-Roading: Motorcycles may only be used on routes designated by the Akiiki Moto Tours guide.
4. Booking and Cancellation
- Deposit: A 20% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking.
- Final Payment: Due 30 days before the tour start date.
- Cancellations: * 30+ days: Loss of deposit.
- 14-29 days: 50% of total tour cost.
- Less than 14 days: 100% of total tour cost.
5. Liability Waiver
Motorcycling is an inherently dangerous activity. By participating, you acknowledge and accept the risks associated with road and weather conditions, wildlife, and other road users. Akiiki Moto Tours, its owners, and guides are not liable for personal injury, death, or loss of property.
6. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be settled in the courts of Cape Town.
